T-Minus 10 Days
10 days until a plane and myself fly across a large pond. The final crunch of attempted training is now upon this Scotland bound trekker. Have managed 2 short hikes on Rib Mountain, about 3.5 hours each, with NO real weight. Sadly not enough walking. But the Up and Downs at least counted as a warning to muscles soon to have serious demands on them. Began wearing the brand new Ahnu boots to get that ‘breaking-in’ process moved into active mode. Boots were tight. Seemed very tight. Left little toe rubbed. Now said little toe wears a toe covering. Next, the outside of right shin was bruised from the tightness of new boots about the ankle. Walked one day in running shoes with no weight. Felt great to not have that important Art History on my back, and walk easily like a normal person walks around town. Now considering using the well worn-in boots from last year, rather than the new. Dilemma that needs to b...
