Conic Hill - Long Trudge - Haggis

Day 2 Walking, Friday June 7 Hawthorns, Dryman ( pronounced drimen) to Rowardenna Hotel, Rowardenna  14 miles, 39484 steps, 9.5 hours including one hour lunch break.  Met Lynne, Sue and Joe at 8:30 and began walking through Garadhban Forest.  We chose the high scenic route up Conic Hill (1284 feet).  Lots of stopping to breathe, but great views from the summit over the countryside, distant mountains and Loch Lomond.   Very steep drop down to Balmaha often using steps.  Lunch at the Oaktree Inn of tuna with cheese and salad and lots of drinking water.   Then 7 miles of up and down on the ‘Bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond.   Some rain which requires digging out waterproofs, only to remove them sometime later.   Because of all the chatting our group progress was slow. Finally Sue and Joe went ahead while Lynne and I plodded along telling stories.   Loch Lomond is Britain’s largest area of fresh water.  23 miles long and up to 5 miles wide....
