CWA - Detroit - JFK - Glasgow
✈️ ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ ✈️ ✈️
Departure day arrived. Sad to leave home, pets, and spouse. They all will be missed, especially the latter.
10,000 steps stepped before leaving CWA as I kept moving before the flight.
Seat mate for the first flight was Tom Ordens. I noticed his reading material had the Portage County Library sticker on it. Conversation began and names were exchanged. He mentioned being on the team for the Wisconsin Nicaragua program and was in the country with Sharon Bowen when her tragic fall happened on the stairs. He was right behind her coming down and there was nothing he could do. He was still very upset about it. Currently he is on the way to attend another funeral for a close friend.
Walked Concourse A in Detroit twice. Each length is a mile long, so got in a bit more foot movement, then the tram was ridden for two loops. Flight attendants riding the tram were a lively group off on their day job assignments. Half were going to Amsterdam and the rest to Rome.
Seat partner on the flight to JFK was returning to Denmark after being an exchange student in Ohama, Nebraska for a year. She opened a couple of sealed letters to read once the flight took off. She was quietly crying and sniffling and faced away from me. Later when I talked with her she admitted she wasn’t ready to return home. She loved it in the US and all her new friends and the family she stayed with.
Delta airlines was very good as far as seats with individual monitors, good food, and they have free WiFi that can be used when above 10,000 feet.
Pet Relief Area in JFK between the men and women’s rooms. Had wondered what those traveling dogs did.
Flight to Glasgow left at 11:30 pm. That was a bit beyond the typical dream time for me. ‘Dinner’ was served until close to 1 am. But between boarding plane, waiting for plane to leave ground, waiting for that early morning dinner, eating dinner - The movie choice made was “Mary Queen of the Scots”. Seemed appropriate as that was the land the plane was aiming for.
Some dozing happened thanks to a Melatonin 😀
Local bus from airport to city center, 15 minute ride. Transfer to another bus to Milngavie, 30 minute ride. Walk one mile to Premier Inn. Collapse!!!!!
Located the start of the route.
